There are devourers in the jungle and in the desert. Moreso than in Ascalon, in both cases.

Disclamier: What You're About To Read Is Entertaining And Long And May Not Be Suitable For ADD Patients. Viewer Discretion is Advised.

You know what's worse than scorpions? Cliff Racers. Just thank God they aren't in this game. (Morrowind players will know what I'm talking about.)

The problem is that the scorpions just spring out of the ground, which gets on everyones nerves. A solution? Pesticide. Just kidding. Make them visible; make them crawl on the ground so that players won't have to deal with the "Wow, look at that! I was running to my destination as usual because I haven't yet learned to walk, and out of nowhere the exact same mob of scorpions...

Which consists of:
A: Whiptail
B: Plague
C: Carrion

...that I killed earlier in Ascalon seemed to have faked their deaths and followed me throughout my entire journy across Tyria, popping out infront of me each time and continuing their spastic lifestyle. Yes, that *must* be the only possible solution. But wait! I finally reached the desert! So that must mean they aren't called Whiptail, Plague or Carrion Devourers anymore because everyone knows that when a Scorpion enters the Crystal Desert for the first time (but not anywhere else in Tyria) it has to get a name change. Yes, they must have had their names changed because they still look the exact same, and they still posses their ultimate skill of bad scare tactics and annoyance."

So *please* stop making Scorpions wiggle their way out of the ground. Make them visible, or even better, use pesticide. Just kidding. (The same goes for those annoying Scarbs, but they aren't as bad because I enjoy killing them)

And also, I find it odd how low level monsters in Ascalon still feel brave enough to piss off my level 20 Warrior/Monk with maxed out armor, a maxed out weapon and a maxed out shield. So what I'm trying to say is, please fix the scripting of the enemies in the game so that enemies that are, lets say, 3 levels below your current level and higher (or something similar to this), arggo you, and if any enemy's level is higher than yours it has the right to pick a fight. This would make every player in GW happier. And I'm done.

part of the problem rests in this:

Tyria is a massive world. There is a lot of terrain to cover. That means that if you were going to have new mobs for every area it would be 1) completely unrealistic and 2) a huge huge (I mean huge) time and labor drain on Anet.

The solution?

A scorpion in Africa is as easy to step on as a scorpion in China... and both are dispatched with the same level of ease if you have a boot on. Granted a house cat is a far cry from a tiger, but bears are bears, dogs are as savage as wolves if trained to kill or left to grow wild... There should not be a 17 level difference between the same creature, of the same size (consider the differences between lion and jaguar, though lion is definately bigger and tougher, to us the difference is moot cuz we're toast)

So leave all creatures within a certain level range and add the no-aggro for creatures more than 8 levels below us. When I was level 10, I'd sure as hell try to avoid a level 18 unless I had a decent party or had to defend myself.

I have a suggestion!

Since it is apparent from the last 900 billion or so complaint threads, that all the people with all the complaints have run out of ideas of things to bitch about, so let's go the next big one over:

"Give the npc's the ability to die per instanced player!"

Why?

Because they are all wearing that same goofy ass suit (collectors) who look like that stupid kid on the tv cartoon about the dinosaur and his nerd pals!

Because their armor is cooler than mine!

Because more people prefer the taste of "complain because I cannot get an erection" than those that play the game and enjoy it for its merits rather than the stygian depths of insanity!

Yeah! More insane suggestions to impart into a game that was, quite literally, pretty much flawless from release, except for 900 or so "bothers" that 300-400 people who cannot be bothered to remain calm and sane, who thusly bithced about 900 billion times until it was changed to stop the proverbial pants pissing festival.

[/sarcasm]

Let me guess, you people will create a giant lady bug with 4 wings for the expansion? God, please balance out the monsters and get rid of the scorpions!!! I would say 64% of the monsters in this game are scorpions and there are only around 30 different type of monsters. Wow, I am very dissapointed. Great job making the worse possible monsters in the gaming industry. Come up with monsters that makes you WANT to kill them. It's almost a FRICKIN CHORE to kill these non-stop scorpions crawling from underground. For god's sake, Diablo has better monsters than Guild wars. At least they make your skin crawl the first time you play! Fire the person who came up with the two-tailed scorpion and hire a more creative and intelligent person who can come up with better monsters than two-tailed scorpions. Seriously, is it that hard? I'd prefer killing unicorns, monkeys, giant tigers, tribesmen! for hell's sake, get RID of the scorpions, it's just RUINING the game.
All you've done is moaned. You've suggested nothing. Makes suggestions! This is what this forum is for.

You are aware that it is currently scoprion breeding season?
Silly fool! They are always more active at this time.

Once you get past the ruins of Ascalon their numbers diminish significantly - I suggest you sally forth and explore the wilds so you may be free of this bifurcated menace!

They're probably the reason why they made it so you have to ascend to go to the underworld and fissure of woe. So every... single one... of you characters... has to deal with those... things.

I love palette swaps on monsters, reminds me of those good old NES days for every RPG. But, for a game with a world map of that size, numerous areas to explore... and all you can come up with are the same enemies over and over again?

The scorpions of GW are like the green blobs of Dragon Quest. Maybe they made them look the same so that you would get annoyed by them and kill them quicker

i'd like to see more humanoid type creatures. Some crazy knights, think white mantle but buffed up with noticeably large armour and scary ass looking axes and such. I would love to see some actually terrifying demonic type looking creatures. (maybe even the ones like in doom3 minus the robotic parts) or how about some MASSIVE creatures. The hill giants really aint that intimidating. How about you make them huge, give them clubs at least as large as you and such. Or what about those pitiful bone dragons. At least glint was well sized.

scorpions suck.

i want crabs!

Why dont we have a +% dmg upgrade vs scorps?

Ever notice the size of insects in the video game world? These are some crazy big insects we have to put up with. It got me thinking, what if they wernt really big, but in fact we are just really small, and giants in this game are really just midgets.

Agreed. I'd happily trade in my "of Pruning" mods for it.

What if they added a quest in olde Ascalon that would rid the land of 90% of the Devourers or maybe all of them? All these bugs could have a queen someplace. So you go find this biatch and take out the entire nest in a blaze of glory. Ooooh the sweet vengeance of destroying the Queen. Then afterwards, everytime you kill a mob of devourers they become more rare until they even become extinct... Maybe once you reach the Sage lands you'll have anouther Queen to take out... Also they could add some nice gold drops when you take the Queen out.

*grabs a torch and starts a Lynch mob.* Come on guys were gonna get the Queen! *Marches out of Ascalon*

These devourers top my list of most hated and annoying creatures in the game. Could somebody give me a reason why those gargoyles at post-searing can summon devourers? Another reason to make gamers annoyed. I remember a time just outside of Ascalon City. I came across a gargoyle and it summons a devourer. To make matters worse, two more devourers suddenly spawn from the ground. Another gargoyle patrolling starts creeping closer and eventually notices me and summons another devourer. I don't mind if these devourers don't spawn every ten feet or so. It's so bad once you reach Druid's Outlook.
